Marchant Introduces Local and Municipal Health Care Choice Act of 2015

June 24, 2015 - Congressman Kenny Marchant (TX-24) introduced the Local and Municipal Health Care Choice Act of 2015. The legislation would expand health care choice and competition by making it easier for local and municipal governments to pool health coverage. Marchant issued the following statement upon the bill’s introduction:

“The way to expand choice and lower costs in health care is through local solutions that enhance competition and empower the American people instead of Washington. That is why I have introduced the Local and Municipal Health Care Choice Act of 2015. The bill provides local and municipal governments relief from Obamacare needed to expand health care choice for their employees through coverage pools created at home. And by allowing local governments and their employees to participate in pools across state lines, this legislation would open up health care markets to stronger interstate competition on price and quality.

“I’m pleased to have Congressmen Mac Thornberry and Pete Olson – both fellow Texans – as original cosponsors of the Local and Municipal Health Care Choice Act. I look forward to advancing this legislation that expands individual choice and competition in health care.”
